Four friends from Punjab embark on a journey to make a mark in the world of pop music and form a band. While they face opposition from their parents, they continue to pursue their passions.

Unnikrishnan, a jobless youth has taken loan money from everyone he knows. But he couldn't pay back any of those. After facing lot of harassement, he decides to commit suicide after taking an insurance policy which can pay back his loans. He jumps into the sea, but gets caught in the fishing nets of Gangadharan and Ramanan and reaches a distant place. They think that Unni is deaf and dumb and Gangadharan decides to keep him at 'Punjabi House', where he himself had taken a loan from. Unni meets Pooja there, who is also dumb.

In 1923, Ludwig Bodmer, a young man returning from the war, works in the gravestone company of his comrade Georg Kroll during the period of inflation. Business is going well, but inflation robs them of their profits and people suffer under the circumstances of the time. The "lost generation" in particular, the survivors of the First World War, of which Ludwig is one, struggles to find a place in society.

Chandigarh-based Baby Arora lives a wealthy lifestyle with her husband Rajinder; two sons: Dr. Arjun and restaurant-owner Karan; and a daughter, Simran. She treats her sons like daughters and Simran like a son, spends a lot of time online chatting with strange males, and wants Karan and Arjun to wed a homely girl, and an N.R.I. doctor respectively. She arranges for Karan to wed a simple girl, Preeti, and then arranges Arjun's marriage with U.S.-based Dr. Jeena Puri. While Arjun waits for his Visa - Baby's undertakes to look for a groom for her daughter - not realizing the surprises and shocks that await her when Preeti starts showing her true colors; Karan is not exactly running a restaurant, and Jeena refuses to communicate with Arjun.
